The Department of Marine Engineering aims to train the best marine engineering graduates for the shipping industry. Along with providing a broad based knowledge in theory, the cadets are exposed to the marine equipments by providing visits to ships and repair yards.
The educational objectives of our graduate program are to produce graduates who :

Understand the essential requirements of a marine engineer working on board ship.

Will be able to apply their theoretical knowledge to solve problems arising during their career.

Are sensitive to the environment, social, safety and possess a strong commitment to ethical practice within that context and also contribute socially.

Are able to communicate their ideas and positions clearly and concisely both orally and practically.
Career Prospects
Marine Engineers form the back bone of a ships propulsion and safety. They are therefore required to have good theoretical and practical knowledge of the systems on board ship. As they progress in their career the invaluable experience will provide them better management skills. Apart from the shipping industry there are also similar job prospects ashore (in marine equipments and management companies)
Work-shop
The marine engineering cadets are provided with extensive practical training, in the marine workshop, all kinds of equipment - Diesel Engines, Boilers, Pumps Auxiliary machine, Centrifuges, Valves, etc. They are also required to undergo extensive watch keeping duties in plant operation and safety.
