The Dept of Mechanical engineering aims to provide the best mechanical engineering inputs to the marine engineers along with broad-based knowledge in practicals. The cadets are exposed to marine engineering requirements through various guest lectures and other seminars arranged from time to time during their course curriculum.
The educational objectives of our graduate programs are to produce graduates who will:

Career Prospects
The marine engineers are trained in the Mechanical Engineering subjects such that, they are capable of contributing following major activities like Ship Building,
Work-shop activities required in ship repairs like welding, riveting component machining, assembling & dismantling.
Laboratories and Software
The Mechanical Engineering department has core laboratories for heat transfer, Applied mechanics, fluid machinery, refrigeration (air conditioning machines) and vibration analysis. The experiments are critically selected so as to cover the entire gamut of marine engineering principles. These experiments demonstrate the core engg. principles and gives a feel of the parametric sensitivity of various parameters. Besides the syllabus, students are taught the latest software languages and are allowed to work on latest software designs. A dedicated internet facility is made available round the clock.
