Principal's Message

When early man joined logs of wood together to make a raft little did he realize that he was laying down the foundation of modern trade and commerce. Since time immemorial, the sea has been used as a mode of transport for almost everything-right from the firewood that our ancestors used years ago to sophisticated machinery that we depend upon today.

To a lay man a seafarer’s life may seem very romantic but the truth is that the job requires a lot of hard work. The seaman needs to be the best in the field, stay away from near and dear ones for long periods of time and be constantly vigilant. He should also learn never to underestimate his adversary. If he is not perpetually attentive, the enemy would certainly overwhelm him.

Albert Einstein once said that success is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration. We at MANET strives to imbibe this spirit of hard work in each of our cadets. Experienced faculty and well equipped labs give them all the guidance and tools required to become a seafarer with an illustrious career. The ship-in-campus gives them a taste of reality and provides much needed hands-on experience. The excellent sport facilities, gymnasium and provision for extra-curricular activities emphasize the need for personality and confidence development that every cadet needs in today’s competitive world.

Thus, the cadets of MANET are expected to be able to man the ship effectively and to have the knowledge, maturity and balance that enable them to react competently and resourcefully in an emergency. They are expected to know the manner of working and of behaving in workstations, accommodations, recreation rooms, dining hall and in all formal and informal context on board the ship and elsewhere.

The qualities expected of the cadets include cheerful obedience of orders, team spirit, leadership and other seaman like qualities.

The practical based curriculum and all round development that MANET stresses upon gives the cadets all the required skills to reign supreme during their service and have an unparallel career.
